Go behind the scenes for exclusive interviews with fashion icon Melissa Odabash and TV personality Jacquie Beltrao, during their recent summer photo shoot of new mastectomy swimwear for Amoena. The celebrity designer talks about how her latest swimwear collection (in stores February 2018) lets women who’ve had breast cancer enjoy holiday life, go to the beach confidently, lounge in the pool—to really feel good after all they’ve been through. The 2018 Melissa Odabash Amoena collection — the 2nd collaboration between Odabash and Amoena, the expert in supportive design for women—makes a bright, bold statement following its initial success last year. #UnitedbyDesign raises funds for UK breast cancer charity Future Dreams. “The swimwear makes me feel incredibly safe and secure but it’s so lovely as well,” Beltrao says. “You almost forget that you’ve had a mastectomy.” She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. Melissa Odabash brings new styles, patterns, colorways, and new fits this year, particularly a pocketed tankini. “I’ve done designs for all ages and every body type,” Odabash explains, because “of course with breast cancer there is no age.” Beltrao even shares her little fashion secret: She wears the swimwear tops as clothing, with her jeans or skirts, for every day.
